The Beast Clock

Cristobal Cisternas

In the afternoon the sun fell behind the house of a boy named Kirlo. He looked out the living room window at a climbing plant and also admired a hare stopped without moving, the boy beckoned to her through the window, but he escaped very quickly. His parents had to be there with him, but both his father and his mother did not love him well, they did not give him love or hugs, and they have not had love to give the little boy. They never talk about love to him, so he doesn't know.

At dinner, the boy and his parents were at the table each without saying anything, everyone was silent, and he felt sad because his mom and dad are mean and heavy with him, besides being rude and always criticizing him, like when both of his parents teased him together:

"Mom! dad! I'm starving, please feed me something delicious!," said a boy.

"Oh! The poor little boy,” her mother exclaimed.

He did not feel grateful to his parents because they fed him very poorly and as the mother gave the most delicious food to the father, then the boy left them alone with dinner there for the two of them and after going to the bedroom, the boy Kirlo decided sad stay there thinking as always.

In the early morning he couldn't sleep, he stayed up all night with such a noisy fight while his parents discussed insults and shouting in the living room very loudly and threatening a horrible job for the boy Kirlo. He ached with a tear in fear, knowing and thinking that he might now leave his parents' house, run away like a child who has run away later and then quickly jumped out the window.

The Kirlo boy walked as far into the forest as possible and up the hill beyond. He was tired and as he walked away his feet hurt. He has with it. He was dressed in pajamas. He also walked in many slow hours of night and then began at dawn, and found a hidden cave behind a very wonderful background of blue and green trees all, with green and yellow grasses, with the ground of the path golden in color, with pools of reflections in the water, all calm and full of beautiful peace, the boy entered the cave alone, the boy was brave, and then he fell asleep because he could never sleep for two whole days walking.

In the afternoon two shadows came to the cave, they were of two beasts that were amazed seeing the sleeping child. One beast was male and the other female. They saw that he wore pajamas and slept on the soft ground and more comfortable rocks. They were two beasts. One thought and then accepted after thinking well he is a human child, but he is small and very weak and abandoned. Then she, the greatest beast, pulled the sleeping boy from the rocks and carried him deep into the cave:

"I want an adopted son," the beast said. This hope makes me happy, he said, and she amazed happily and told him: —I love the human child.

That same day, but in the afternoon, long after dawn, the boy Kirlo woke up in a large, soft bed that was more than comfortable. When he woke up the two beasts came to the bedroom, which brought him breakfast, some different and strange foods like a green pancake, blue coffee milk, bread with orange cream and other delicious ones in the duck. The boy was quite surprised at this, seeing with his two eyes around him, the whole place full of extraordinary objects and also many colors that combined very well inside the cave. The female beast wore a dress and had two large horns and a large snout on her face, her skin was orange and also red, her skin was very soft. The other beast, the male one, was fat and tall, looking like a green feline animal with a red nose. Seeing the two beasts, the boy was worried that he could speak to them well with his voice:

"Good morning, how are you, my son?" asked the female beast to the boy who was looking at her in amazement.

"I'm fine thanks. But tell me, who are you? He said pale.

"You're welcome!!" exclaimed the male beast, and they responded with affection to his grateful words, she really liked talking to such a nice and courageous boy, "we are two big, hairy and good beasts. We live in this cave where you chose to come to sleep."

"Oh, I see they're monsters, but tell me what they're called," the boy said with surprise in his eyes.

"I am Yaa Nid," said the male beast.

"My name is Fir Tana," said the female beast, and then asked, "And you, my child?" What is your name?

"Oh, my name is Kirlo Canige Atersan," the boy said.

Then a large grandfather clock in the room shouted loudly at the boy because his human name scared him, because humans were dangerous to the cave and the clock. Kirlo felt fear, his heart and throat froze, because he thought that the clock was monstrous and inhuman, but the great hall clock reassured him and I say that he was worried about the salvation of the cave, the beasts and the little boy. The two beasts knew it, humans always harm, said the clock and we are the ones who suffer. Then the great clock gave the boy a new name.

"Yanid and Firtana are good beasts or kind monsters," the clock told the boy.

Kirlo walked towards the clock to take a better look at it, he saw that he could speak with a clear voice and with sounds formed by the precious wood, as if it were a violin or a beautiful instrument. He had a pendulum that he didn't move. And when he looked at it well he then saw that life was finally revealed through them in hidden figures, then he saw those figures together with three other clocks around a single big clock. That big clock controlled the life of the world, the other small clocks were around and controlled births and deaths, the minutes and the seconds. Kirlo looked at everything admiringly with big eyes and at that moment, the clock decided to give it another name in order to take care of life in the cave and so that life continues never damaged:

"Asaa Tin," said the clock to the boy Kirlo, those two words are your name. They symbolize the dawn star, the star of life.

His new name seemed like Asatin to the boy and having a new name was like being born again and that and that idea was created by the clock in his head. The beasts smiled because he had two hearts full of love, two hearts that did not know what it was like to have a child. The clock then advised to take care of the invisible and hidden cave, so the good beasts, tell the boy that there are people in the villages around the forest who do not believe that the animals are good. But the monsters insist that animals, all animals, are good. And after talking, the beasts gave the boy a delicious meal and that made him feel happy because he didn't know that. Then he gave thanks to his life.

The Clock told him of the enchanted fruits in many years ago when the spirit cloud of an enchanted old man fell the magic raindrop, put the red seed to soil, after a hundred years the enchanted tree grew to appear then the red flowers they bloom to become very wonderful and bright red fruits, then the good family had three children to be happy later they admired the tree had the illuminated fruits then the man and woman touched them but luck they do not give children, eating the red fruits of it's purity in trap not harm when fainting dizzy. The father and mother woke up amazingly while their disappeared children never saw each other, they looked at hands and their bodies we also found, they are already beasts, lives cannot speak voice, never raise babies, unable to convert or return from human beings, nothing sad and anguish in their parents they changed from being beasts to advance never to disappear nor to die also growing in a very distant land.

The boy was very amazed at the story of clock, but then he saw the smiles of the beasts, who were very grateful. Then he hugged them and felt their very soft hairs. After three hours of talking and making friends, the green beast read a giant book while the red beast knitted some wool and the boy played with a blue panther that was the pet of two beasts, enjoying these other times in peace.

Then the beasts taught the boy Kirlo how to read new words because they had a lot of books in the library and Kirlo had told them that he hadn't learned to read yet and wanted to read a lot. And they told him that reading was the most important thing, that you couldn't not read, that the adventures and truths of the world were there. Then, they taught him other equally powerful and positive things along the way to being happier.

After many days that they had spent like this, studying, reading, playing, knitting and talking, the Clock told her with concern about the parents:

"They are looking for you because you are lost, nobody knows about you."

"I didn't want his parents because they were mean to me," the boy said very sadly and everyone was amazed at that.

"You'll have to walk and go to them, because the humans will see the cave and then we lose everything, even our lives. You know that the cave has been covered and protected for already three hundred years, that's it." said the Clock to the boy who now had to decide.

The boy thought for a bit and then said: "I accept, I'm coming."

Then the boy Kirlo hugged the two beasts because he was going to miss being with them. He then dismissed the Clock and played with the blue panther for a while. Then he walked with his head down and left the cave, entered the forest and from there he walked to school.

When he arrived at school, he entered the class and began to study. The teacher was teaching them and the student children started making fun of a rumor about Kirlo that he had parents who were beast parents. This made everyone in the school laugh. For his part, Kirlo was depressed because I didn't know anything about them, about the two beasts and maybe because of how bad he could have happened to them. Within two hours of arriving at school, while he was in class drawing, he suddenly stopped drawing because at one point his parents arrived, as the principal told them that his son was in the room. school. Then the boy found himself in front of them, both of them looking at him angrily with scolding in their eyes while further on the children spoke of the rumor of the beasts to criticize Kirlo. And then, once again, his parents got angry and called him out because the boy had been missing.

In the afternoon, after going home, the parents were arguing about Kirlo, who suffered because he was tired and sad, but the father didn't care and when he told his mother about the rumor, they both laughed:

"Kirlo you're stupid and you have a big ugly butt," his mother laughed.

"Now, get out of this place, go to your room," his father exclaimed.

So, the boy Kirlo left and walked sadly to the bedroom, but his mother chased him, entered behind him, hit him and then pushed the door hard, leaving it well closed.

That night the boy Kirlo stayed in bed crying while his parents slept and cried until he fell asleep. The boy Kirlo woke up two hours later and began to think that the Clock had told him that if he was beaten and cried, then he would defend him to die always during the midnight of your parents. Kirlo was amazed at the memory and thought that this was impossible and then he ran to the door of the parents' room, opened it and saw them sleeping in bed. Then he felt the power of the Clock fill the room where his parents slept, then the magic that entered attacked the breath inside the throats of the two had thick ice in their throats and they did not breathe. Then they both died in bed and he was afraid and fell to the ground almost faint.

Two days later at the cemetery, Kirlo was walking with his grandmother. The truth is that he wasn't sad because he thought his father and mother were mean and annoying and didn't care for him even though he was his son. And then he saw that it was raining on the ground where they were going to be buried, he saw that it was cold and that they were going to put them in boxes in the cold ground under the rain and he felt a little sad. His grandmother told him, don't worry, you're coming with me, no one is going to bother you. I support you. And you know that with me you will always have someone who cares, who can teach you well and who will help you with whatever you need, including playing, having fun and enjoying yourself.

“The beasts love you, Kirlo. You know it, they are very fond of you" said the grandmother to her child who was surprised at her house, "How did you know? Where are the beasts? How is that looking at me? Do they always know where I am?."

"Easy, Kiro. Let. I tell you everything."

Then Kirlo's grandmother told the whole story of the beasts with her. She told him that when she was little she also entered the cave, that she was very sad at that time and that the beasts helped her to get over the loss of her parents when she was a child and they always offered her love and a hug.

"Kirlo, you will never be alone because you are an adopted child of the beasts," Grandma said and then she also said that she accepted that he would continue to be friends with the beasts and that he could go see them whenever he wanted if he did his homework.

Another day, after he had done his homework and tidied up his room, the grandmother and the boy Kirlo hugged each other very tightly and then the boy ran quickly into the woods. He went towards the cave, towards there where everything was very beautiful and when he arrived he found the door open for him. There was waiting for him the green beast Yanid and also the red beast Firtana, the two were excited to see him in smiles and tears of joy, Kirlo hugged them and then when the beasts began to speak with a very sweet voice, they all conversed pleasantly and loved. The Clock then spoke:

"You are our family, son of the beasts, you can always live here. In a liveliest and full of love place."

The blue panther wanted Kirlo to be his master and always play in that place, inside the enchanted cave. There where he is the most wonderful and where they live happily ever after.
